Wisconsin Pastel Artists present “Stepping Up”

Wisconsin Pastel Artists has a signature membership distinction with 3 criteria to qualify:
- Be a member in good standing
- Currently hold or have held a position of service [board or standing committee member]
- Have won 3 place awards in (3 separate) WPA exhibits
Any member who has fulfilled these criteria may add WPA to their signatures.
To offer an opportunity to earn signature status, WPA is launching this online exhibit exclusively for current non-signature members:
ENTRY WINDOW & DEADLINE ~ From now until Friday, January 21, 2022
OPENING RECEPTION & AWARDS ~ Saturday, February 5, Zoom @7 PM
- Open only to current members who have not achieved Signature Status
- Submit just one painting - your best work
- Best of Show, First, Second, and Third place awarded by judge
- May not enter work previously shown in any WPA exhibit
- Per IAPS membership, work must be 80% pastel
- No work created in a class or workshop, nor collaborative work
- Work must not be copied or primarily based on the composition of another artists’ work or another person’s photos. Exception – work can be created based on someone else’s unpublished photos with written permission from the photographer
- No work painted over a mechanical print, copies, or reproductions
- Once details are submitted, they are final
- Online requirements/specs for submission must be followed or work will not be shown
- Entry fee $15.00-make check payable to Wisconsin Pastel Artists and mail to Julia Pagenkopf, 17760 Windemere Rd, Brookfield, WI 53045
- All deadlines are firm
Submission Requirements: (Bolded text denotes especially important items):
- No framing required; no frame, mat edge, or unfinished edges may show in your photo. (If your piece is framed-don’t photograph through the glass-best to remove it for shooting).
- Send your well-lit and appropriately cropped submission to Julia Pagenkopf [email protected] in an email with Submission on the subject line.
- Before submitting: Rename and save the photo as your last name, hyphen (-) the title of the painting (for example: rename IMG_0474.jpg to Behrs-Canyon of Dreams.jpg).
- It’s best to use the “Insert” function and then “Attach File” instead of inserting the image directly into the body of the email.
- For website viewing, the size of your image files needs to be around 1MB (photos taken by most smart phones work just fine) Note: on Android phones the file size is much larger than 1MB if you are too close or too zoomed in. Best to stand back, take a smaller image and crop out anything other than your painting.
- Separate and additional information needed for the email which accompanies your submission:
- Your name and contact information
- Title
- Size of piece, unframed (Height x Width)
- Media (list any besides pastel),
- Price or NFS.
- If you have submission questions, please direct them to Julia Pagenkopf only. You will be notified only that your entry is accepted or not accepted. If not accepted, you are welcome to resubmit an entry that meets the stated requirements before the deadline. No additional entry fee for additional attempts.
- Plan to enter in a timely fashion, in case issues arise. Entries and fees must be received by January 21, 2022.
“Stepping Up” will be viewable by the public beginning in February.
