Judge's Comments: "I love this little colorful piece that shows a real understanding of the medium and also her knowledge of values and color. This work truly says “pastel painting” as the artist makes use of negative space, rhythm and texture as well as composition using the buttery quality of the direct application of her pastels much like the impressionists did. She masterfully balances the activity of the verticals with the larger calm of the snow shapes as well as using the compliments of orange playing off the blue in this evocative winter scene.'
